Asia Mape is a 4-time Emmy Award–winning journalist and sports television producer who has worked with ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, NFL Network, and TNT. She has covered some of the world’s biggest sporting events, including five Olympics, multiple NBA Playoffs, and two Super Bowls, interviewing hundreds of elite athletes and sharing their stories of talent, resilience, and dedication.
Growing up in Detroit, Asia played every sport she could alongside her two older brothers. After moving to the suburbs of Washington, D.C., she focused on basketball, eventually winning a Virginia High School State Championship. She went on to play at Coastal Carolina before transferring to the University of Michigan, where she earned a degree in Communications and began her career in sports media.
As a mother of three daughters who all play sports, Asia has spent the last two decades immersed in youth athletics—balancing practices, games, and tournaments across multiple sports. Her firsthand experience inspired her to create I Love To Watch You Play, a platform dedicated to helping parents navigate youth sports with humor, compassion, and perspective while raising confident, well-rounded athletes.
